I suppose we always knew it was going to be a slim month this month with a Crescent City re-read and then the release of House of Sky and Breath. And with both of these books being absolute monsters it was never going to leave much time for reading anything else so I’m really pleased … Continue reading February Wrap Up

January Wrap Up
Both Emma and I began this year by finishing up reading the latest offering in the Zodiac Academy series. Heartless Sky was released on the 18th of December but as we both had children breaking up for their school holidays that day, and then Christmas (and COVID) to contend with we wanted to hold off … Continue reading January Wrap Up
Capturing the Devil Review
This is the last adventure for Audrey Rose and Thomas in the ‘Jack the Ripper’ series. Having arrived in New York, following their exploits on board the Etruria in Escaping Houdini, the pair are excited to finally be making their relationship more official with the announcement of their engagement and begin the planning of their wedding. Apparently never far from trouble, the pair are soon called to assist Audrey Rose’s uncle at a crime scene that appears to bear concerning similarities to Jack Ripper’s murders. The Ripper is dead though, isn’t he?
As Good As Dead Review
I was so excited to dive into the third book in this trilogy but I actually struggled with it quite a bit at first. Pip is struggling herself at the start of the book; following the events at the end of the second book she’s suffering with PTSD and this sets quite a bleak and gloomy tone to the start of the book. Pip’s searching for a way to ‘fix herself’ and get back to ‘normal’ when she realises that she has a stalker.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Review
Pip is about to embark on her final year of sixth form and has chosen to investigate a local crime for her EPQ (an independent research project). 5 years previously another student, Andie Bell, mysteriously disappeared, her body never found. Police quickly came to the conclusion that Andie’s boyfriend Sal Singh, had murdered her when he turned up dead from an apparent suicide a few days later. This conclusion has never sat right with Pip and so she sets out to uncover the truth.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief Review
I was looking for something gentle and safe to ease into 2022 so what better than a kids book right? I may have just developed a new obsession though.
The Love Hypothesis Review
I really needed a nice, light, ‘low risk’ read to start this year, and although I would never normally go for something like this, I already had The Love Hypothesis on my shelf and had been seeing it everywhere so thought I’d go for it. Well, less than 24 hours later and I’d totally devoured it. It was cheesy, and cliched, and cute, but all utterly delightfully so. It was even a tad spicy, surprisingly so for such sweet story.
